Brilliant public speakers are confident in their ability because they practice, practice, practice. They are positive and fearless of their audience. It shows in their calm, relaxed presentation style. They welcome confident public speaking.
The most common phobia is said to be public speaking. It is certainly the most common irrational fear I see from people who come to me for treatment. Some tell me they ‘go to pieces’ emotionally when talking to a few co-workers, while others can speak infront of a certain number, and ‘break-down’ as the audience becomes larger.
Anyone who has ever had a fear about public speaking has had three fundamental things in common:
- Feeling apprehensive prior to the event
- Feeling the anxiety build, and build
- Feeling terrified the anxiety may boil over into a full blown panic attack, which will not only ruin the event, but cause unspeakable embarrisment.
Even the most professional entertainers and speakers admit to feeling some level of apprehension before an event or performance. It triggers the release of adrenalin that heightens the senses and makes them even more responsive. Many professionals accept these feelings as a benefit, that makes their performance even better.
The unexpected will always happen, microphones, presentation audio visual aids, distracting audience members can throw you ‘off script’. If your emotions are on edge it will show in your voice and body language.
Following NLP therapy that irrational fear will be gone forever. Instead you can focus upon those little challenges with a smile.
Synonyms for public speaking include; declamation, elocution, oratory, rhetoric, speaking, and speechmaking.
You can listen to these subliminal affirmations and let the gentle and encouraging words prepare your unconscious mind for confident public speaking.
If you listen to this MP3 while sleeping, on ‘repeat’ your unconscious mind will hear this message up to 500 times every night. The more these messages are repeated over and over, the more they are uncritically accepted by the unconscious. A simple message, repeated enough, will become a new unconscious belief. This belief then motivates and guides you to prepare for success.
Because we all have different listening preferences, we offer a choice of either gentle ‘lake waves’, pleasant ‘guitar and piano’ or up-tempo ‘Zumba style dance foreground music, to mask the spoken subliminal affirmations. You can download whichever match your style and mood, although we suggest you use each of them to ‘mix-it-up’.
Everyone of us is unique. We have all had different life experiences and we react to them differently too. Most emotional and behavioural challenges can respond well to one-on-one psychotherapy tailored to the individual, using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy and perhaps cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). That is why Peter Zapfella suggests you start with one-on-one therapy using Skype and then use the ‘Welcome’ subliminal affirmations to ‘lock-in’ the unconscious shifts long-term.
