Brilliant public speakers are confident in their ability because they practice, practice, practice. They are positive and fearless of their audience. It shows in their calm, relaxed presentation style. They welcome confident public speaking.
The most common phobia is said to be public speaking. The technical term is Glossophobia. It is certainly one of the most common irrational fear’s I see from people who come to me for treatment. Some tell me they ‘go to pieces’ emotionally when talking to a few co-workers, while others can speak in front of a specific number (say 10 or 25), and ‘break-down’ as the audience numbers increase.
Anyone who has ever had a fear about public speaking has had three fundamental things in common:
- Feeling apprehensive prior to the event
- Feeling the anxiety build, and build
- Feeling terrified the anxiety may boil over into a full blown panic attack, which will not only ruin the event and cause unspeakable embarrassment.
Even the most professional entertainers and speakers admit to feeling some level of apprehension before an event or performance. Their agitation triggers the release of adrenalin that heightens the senses and makes them even more responsive. Many professionals accept these nervous feelings as a benefit because it gives them ‘the edge’ that makes their performance even better.
The unexpected can always happen to microphones, lights, presentation audio-visual aids, distracting audience members, etc. These and other bizarre events can throw a speaker ‘off script’. If emotions are on edge it will almost certainly show in the voice and body language of the speaker.
An inexperienced speaker may actually draw attention to an unforeseeable event, and only make matters worse. When I was learning acting and radio presentation I was told to ignore errors and equipment failures. I was told ‘keep going as if it is part of the act, they will never know the difference’.
Some old out-dated treatments of fears and phobias were called ‘desensitisation‘. It involved exposing the sufferer to the object of their fear over and over again. This most often caused abreactions. Abreactions are strong, often disturbing emotional and even physical reaction to something re-experienced from the past, as if real. Abreaction could re-traumatize rather than achieve the desired healing, particularly if there is no experienced therapist present to ‘rescue’ the patient (when listening to an MP3 at home for example). Some psychologists are experimenting with technology, such as VR goggles, to use ‘cyber desensitisation‘ which persists in causing abreactions. Our Welcome subliminal messages are abreaction free, you can rest assured you are safe.
Following abreaction free NLP therapy that irrational fear will be gone forever. Instead, you can focus upon those little challenges with a smile.
Synonyms for public speaking include; declamation, elocution, oratory, rhetoric, speaking, and speechmaking.
You can listen to these subliminal affirmations and let the gentle and encouraging words to prepare your unconscious mind for confident public speaking.
If you listen to the Welcome Confident Public Speaking MP3 while sleeping, on ‘repeat’ your unconscious mind will hear this message up to 500 times every night. That’s powerful!!
Because the more the Welcome Confident Public Speaking messages are repeated over and over, the more they are uncritically accepted by the unconscious. A simple message, repeated enough, will become a new unconscious belief. This belief then motivates and guides you to prepare for success.
Because we all have different listening preferences, we offer a choice of either gentle ‘lake waves’, pleasant ‘guitar and piano’ or up-tempo ‘Zumba style dance foreground music, to mask the spoken subliminal affirmations. You can download whichever match your style and mood, although we suggest you use each of them to ‘mix-it-up’.
Every one of us is unique. We have all had different life experiences and we react to them differently too. Most emotional and behavioral challenges can respond well to one-on-one psychotherapy tailored to the individual, using Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy and perhaps cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). That is why Peter Zapfella suggests you start with one-on-one therapy using Skype and then use the Welcome Confident Public Speaking subliminal affirmations to ‘lock-in’ the unconscious shifts long-term. Of course, you can ‘flip-it’ and try the Welcome Confident Public Speaking MP3’s first, and see if they are effective for you without therapy. It so, that’s great. If not, see skypetherapy.pro
