Description
Caffeine is an alkaloid drug found naturally in around 60 different plant species. It is found in the seeds, fruits, nuts, or leaves of a number of plants native to Africa, Asia and South America. Cocoa beans, kola nuts, tea leaves and coffee beans are the most well-known.

Caffeine is the world’s most widely consumed psychoactive drug.
Unlike many other psychoactive substances, caffeine is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world. More than 80 percent of the world’s population consumes a caffeinated product every day.
Researchers continue to confuse us with contradictory results and recommendations from their studies. Some conclude it is ‘bad’ for us, even dangerous. While others say caffeine is ‘good’ for us.
I have attempted to take a neutral stance here and look at both sides, so do not be surprised if you find one or two contradictions.
So, let us be clear about this from the ‘get-go’. There is no study that concludes that caffeine causes a physical addiction. However, there is plenty of evidence that it does create a psychological dependence.
Therefore, people can become dependent upon caffeine without realizing it until they suffer cravings when they try to live a life free from their caffeine dependency. Caffeine can produce a form of drug dependence – associated with very real withdrawal symptoms.
These symptoms can be either or both psychological and physical.
Caffeine stimulates the Adenosine receptors, which are responsible for the feelings of well-being. If you are used to daily caffeine hits, and you want to quit caffeine or cut down try reducing the quantity over several days before you stop completely. Wean yourself down and off gradually.
Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system. A study by the University of Bristol, in the UK, revealed that the buzz we get after drinking coffee is actually part of the addiction process. It keeps you coming back for more.
An overdose can trigger an anxiety panic attack in some people. An overdose greater than 10 g of caffeine can be fatal in adults. I have had clients come to me for help who claim they drink 20 cups of coffee a day. A fatal dose would be closer to 50 cups a day.
However, a daily intake of around 400 mg—about four or five cups of coffee—is considered by many researchers to be safe, for most adults.
For others that is way too much. Decaffeinated coffee and so-called herbal ‘coffee substitutes’ are an alternative.
One of the most common solvents used in manufacturing decaffeinated coffee is methylene chloride, an industrial chemical that is also used in paint strippers, adhesives and degreasers.
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned most but not all industrial uses of methylene chloride after a risk evaluation found the chemical was linked to neurotoxicity and cancer.
The Environmental Working Group, a US-based environmental advocacy group, is petitioning the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to ban the use of methylene chloride in the production of food and decaf coffee.
The US FDA permits a maximum amount of 10 parts per million of methylene chloride in decaffeinated coffee, while the Australian Food Standards Code limit is five times less.
For some any caffeine wreaks havoc in their lives. They cannot stomach it without violent reactions. Some people’s genes make them more sensitive to caffeine. Children, pregnant women, people with a history of insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, tremors, panic attacks, irregular heartbeat, heart attack, or high blood pressure should avoid or abstain from caffeine consumption in coffee and other products.
Others hate the taste and smell of coffee.
Adding to the confusion, a study at the University of Durham in the UK found people who consume 315 mg or more of caffeine per day were three times as likely to have hallucinations as those people who consumed less.
A can of cola or a cup of tea contains 25-45mg caffeine. Decaffeinated coffee generally provides less than 3mg caffeine per cup. Chocolate contains much smaller amounts of caffeine.
Here is the good, the bad and the ugly about caffeine – in no particular order.
- Caffeine can have negative effects on anxiety disorders.
- At 300 mg and above per day, caffeine can both cause and worsen anxiety. For some, discontinuing caffeine use can significantly reduce anxiety.
- On the other hand, caffeine may reduce depression.
- Caffeine in coffee may reduce the risk of liver damage (cirrhosis).
- Drinking caffeine in coffee may decrease the risk of premature death in diabetics.
- Cancer. 2–4 cups of coffee per day may reduce liver cancer and colorectal cancer risk factors.
- Consuming around 4 cups of coffee per day may lower the risk of skin cancer.
- Caffeine together with commonly prescribed pain relievers modestly improve pain relief in some people.
- Caffeine promotes alertness and attention during the first hour of consumption.
- Caffeine increases the short term basal metabolic rate in adults, and physical performance.
- Caffeine causes dilation in the bronchi, facilitating better breathing. Therefore, helping respiratory problems such as bronchitis and asthma.
- Coffee has been linked to a reduction of risk in cognitive impairments such as dementia, especially Alzheimer’s disease.
- Coffee drinkers may lower the risk of developing multiple sclerosis (MS).
- Drinking four cups of coffee per day may reduce the risk of developing gout.
- In postmenopausal women, high caffeine consumption can accelerate bone loss.
- The UK Food Standards Agency recommends pregnant women limit their caffeine intake to less than 200 mg of caffeine a day
- There is no evidence that coffee stunts a child’s growth.
- Coffee releases gastrin, which increases colon function. I often find that ‘I gotta go now, right now.” following a cup of coffee.
While taking an ‘actors’ holiday’ in his youth, Russell Crowe was working as a waiter in Sydney. When asked for a decaffeinated coffee by an American tourist he gave her a mug of hot water.
“Lady, when we decaffeinate something in Australia we don’t fuck around.”
She did not understand ‘cheeky’ Australian humor and demanded the management sack him on the spot. Which they did. So, he found another acting role and went on to win an Oscar.
A can of Coke has 9mg of caffeine per 100ml, a can of Red Bull has exactly 32mg of caffeine per 100ml – but a can of Prime Energy drink has 56mg of caffeine per 100ml. “To put it into context, Prime contains 200mg of caffeine per drink, which is six times the amount than a regular can of coke,” Kamyra La Fauci, Senior Accredited Practicing Dietitian at Heart Smart Australia.
So, one can of Prime is equal to half the recommended safe consumption of caffeine per day.
For health reasons, you should read food and drink labels on products, and carefully read the ingredient list. Choose food and drinks free from caffeine every time.
How much coffee is too much coffee?
A study published by the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found caffeine is a cause of insomnia, especially when consumed in the late afternoon and evenings.
According to the US Food and Drug Administration, no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine daily for healthy adults, or the equivalent of about four or five cups of coffee is safe.
Consumption slightly above this limit can induce negative mood changes and anxiety. The toxic effects manifest at approximately 12 cups of coffee, or 1,200 milligrams of caffeine.
Director of medical toxicology at Staten Island University Hospital, Nima Majlesi notes that caffeine’s stimulant effects can disrupt normal heart rhythms, leading to cardiac arrest.
Overdosing on caffeine may cause gastrointestinal problems and severe dehydration, upsetting the body’s essential mineral, notably potassium balance. Low potassium levels can lead to muscle damage, respiratory difficulties, and kidney failure.
Neurological symptoms are also prevalent, including anxiety, hallucinations, and seizures. While cases of fatal caffeine intoxication are rare.
To avoid caffeine intoxication, track your daily caffeine intake and be mindful of the various sources of caffeine, including energy drinks and some foods.
Staying hydrated with water can usually mitigate the negative effects of caffeine. However, if you are experiencing caffeine intoxication, seek urgent medical attention.
The Welcome Life Free From Caffeine MP3 assists people who choose to limit or abstain from the consumption of all caffeine.
“The association between high caffeine consumption and a reduced risk for Parkinson’s disease has been observed in epidemiological studies,” says neurologist Valtteri Kaasinen, from the University of Turku. Finland.
“However, our (small) study is the first to focus on the effects of caffeine on disease progression and symptoms in relation to dopamine function in Parkinson’s disease.”
Researchers recruited 163 people with early-stage Parkinson’s and 40 healthy people as an experiment control.
The study found, those participants who typically consumed three or more cups of caffeinated coffee a day showed 8.3 to 15.4 percent lower dopamine transporter binding than those who drank fewer than three cups.
The study concluded that less dopamine is being produced. In spite of links with initial risk reduction, the team found no signs of any restorative function for caffeine in the brains of people with ongoing Parkinson’s symptoms. The researchers did not observe any improvements in the symptoms of Parkinson’s in people who drank more coffee.
“While caffeine may offer certain benefits in reducing the risk of Parkinson’s disease, our study suggests that high caffeine intake has no benefit on the dopamine systems in already diagnosed patients,” said Kaasinen.
“A high caffeine intake did not result in reduced symptoms of the disease, such as improved motor function.”
The researchers think the like other psychostimulant drugs, downregulation of dopamine seen in the high coffee consumers is the same balancing out effect that happens in the brains of healthy individuals.
The study does add important new evidence regarding the relationship between dopamine and Parkinson’s, bringing medical science a step closer to better understanding the disease.
“(However,) Our results do not support advocating caffeine treatment or increased coffee intake for newly diagnosed Parkinson’s disease patients”.
The research has been published in the Annals of Neurology.

In psychology, the deep unconscious mind is often referred to as ‘the child within’. Like a child, the deep unconscious is not logical. It does not understand time or reality. Just like a small child, a simple message repeated often enough will eventually become a new deep unconscious belief.
The ‘adult’ logical conscious mind usually filters incoming information. So, if it does not ‘fit with’ current beliefs it may be rejected, and not passed down to the deep unconscious for processing and storage as long term memories. This is why reading positive affirmations aloud usually fails to make much impression upon the deep unconscious mind – it has already been rejected by the surface conscious mind as untrue. Welcome Life Beyond Caffeine subliminal affirmations are skillfully written messages, professionally camouflaged below music or environmental foreground sounds, so the logical conscious mind cannot hear them (and therefore cannot filter them out either).
With repetition, Welcome Life Free From Caffeine drives our ‘self-talk’ and creates our unconscious beliefs that in turn drive our behaviors and habits, which are auto-behaviors. As the unconscious mind consistently hears these inspiring words it eventually accepts them as a new truth. The transformation can be almost immediate and miraculous because the change happens ‘inside’, with no conscious effort.
“You become what you believe”

Importantly, no hypnotic trance is required for success! The secret is the way Welcome Life Free From Caffeine affirmations are repeated over and over again every minute, just below conscious awareness, but within an awareness of your deep unconscious.
Peter Zapfella has more than 28 years of professional experience as a psychotherapist, having consulted for some of Australia’s largest and most respected companies.
Only ‘Welcome’ subliminal affirmations feature these important properties;
- You can clearly hear the ‘first read’ of every Welcome Life Free From Caffeine subliminal before it slides down below the masking foreground music and sounds. In this way, you consciously, logically, and analytically process the message. This builds conscious trust and confidence in the affirmation messages. Conscious acceptance ‘un-locks the gate’ more effective than others.
- As your deep unconscious continues to listen, your conscious may hear ‘distant’ words, somewhere within the foreground music. Research proves this audio level to be most effective in creating unconscious learnings and long-term change. It is also reassuring because you consciously know what your deep unconscious mind is hearing, without the tedious repetition.
- In psychology, the deep unconscious is often referred to as ‘the child (mind) within’. Just like small children, it enjoys repetition, and that is the best way for it to learn.
- Because Welcome Life Free From Caffeine subliminal MP3’s are more effective the longer you listen on ‘repeat’ while driving, working, at the gym, running, sleeping, or anytime you choose. There is no need to focus on listening because they are designed to be most effective in the background.
- If you listen while sleeping, on ‘repeat’ your unconscious mind will hear the Life Free From Caffeine message more than 400 times every night. If you were to listen to the ‘Environmental – Lake waves’ MP3 or ‘Theta’ binaural waves while sleeping. You can choose to listen to the pleasant piano and guitar’ melody and the ‘Zumba’ – Latin style dance music during the day. Then your deep unconscious can hear the affirmations repeated an additional 800 – 1200 times. That’s powerful.
- The more you listen to your Welcome Life Free From Caffeine subliminal affirmation messages = greater number of repetitions heard by the deep unconscious = clear negative emotions and self-limiting beliefs = a new attitude and behaviors.
- Perhaps the cheapest and easiest option is to download and listen to Welcome Life Free From Caffeine subliminal affirmations as recommended. This approach is very effective for many people.
- An alternative option is to consult with Peter using Skype or another voice-over-internet-protocol to complete relevant diagnostics and a ‘one-on-one’ interview where he can determine the most appropriate approach for you.
- The listening time it takes to change will vary with every individual. Following optional ‘one-on-one’ therapy with Peter Zapfella most will notice measurable changes almost immediately.
- If you have not ‘cleared’ the underlying emotional challenge and associated deep unconscious beliefs before listening to your ‘Welcome’ subliminal affirmations you can expect it to take longer for behavioral changes to occur, perhaps weeks. As everyone has a different life story it would be irresponsible for us to suggest a specific time period.
So, keep listening to your ‘Welcome’ subliminal affirmations as often as practical day-by-day until you create personal miracles in your life! Perhaps, the first you may know you have changed will be positive comments from family and friends who have noticed subtle changes in you.
