For those who are hooked on cola, they cannot be anywhere without a can or bottle. If unable to get their favorite cola they suffer savage withdrawal headaches.

If nothing thing happens boredom, if they are celebrating, stressed or depressed; they addictively reach for a can of cola.

Related words include: coca cola, diet coke, pepsi cola, zero, RC cola, cola turka, kola real, thumbs up, mecca cola, zam zam, carbonated, soft drink, soda, cordial.

Charles Bukowski described habitual cola dependency when writing of alcoholism: ‘If something bad happens, you drink in an attempt to forget; if something good happens, you drink in order to celebrate; and if nothing happens, you drink to make something happen.’

All cola and 70 per cent of other carbonated soft drinks contain caffeine. (Coca-Cola Classic has 100.05 mg/L).

Caffeine consumption from soda/soft drinks has dramatically increased over the last few decades with 70% of all soft drinks containing caffeine.

Several distinct psychiatric syndromes can be associated with caffeine: caffeine intoxication, caffeine withdrawal, caffeine dependence/addiction, caffeine-induced sleep disorder, and caffeine-induced anxiety disorder.

According to the APAs Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, some people can experience caffeine intoxication symptoms, including restlessness, nervousness, excitement, insomnia, flushed face, and gastrointestinal complaints after ingesting as little as 100 milligrams of caffeine per day. At levels of 1,000 milligrams of caffeine per day, symptoms may include muscle twitching, rapid heartbeats, abnormal electrical activity in the heart, and psychomotor agitation.

One day my first client reported a Coke addiction, the next client had a Pepsi addiction, followed by someone with a Diet Coke problem. Three in a row in one day.

Most colas and carbonated soda/soft drinks also contain massive amounts of sugar. I have seen several hypnotherapy/NLP clients over the years who have had a weight control problem because of the massive amounts of sugar consumed in their cola addiction.

Others drink cola and carbonated soft drinks, including the diet or zero versions for the caffeine buzz, the desire to be amped, pumped, psyched, hyped, caffeinated, aerated, inflated, enlarged; to be smarter, sharper and more focused.

Recent studies have shown that diet soft drinks can erode tooth enamel, weaken bone density and lead to a greater risk of heart attack, premature babies, weight gain and kidney failure.

You need never suffer from the debilitating effects of cola drink dependency again, there is a better way.
